Day 1 -> Sept 17th we deployed the glider west of 'The Wolves' with at high tide and let the glider travel with the ebbing tide, then recovered ~4 hours later. The glider ran a series of tests and 3 full 3 yo segments to ~ 60m while the boat crew sampled alongside and then a further 3 single dive/climb profiles before recovery. Day 2 -> Sept 18th, shad was deployed in the north portion of Grand Manan basin, just before high tide, ran with the flowing tide for several segments and then back with the ebbing tide for the last segment. The glider ran a series of tests and then 4 full single yo's to ~ 170m while the vessel sampled along side and then recovered. The purpose of these deployments was to validate the Slocum glider mounted Shadowgraph Camera with oceanographic sampling (Vertical net tow, UVP profile). This sampling was conducted at 3 stations along side glider transect. |
